Install Theme

In start you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. For information in regard to installing the WordPress CMS, please see the WordPress Codex Installing WordPress

Once you have a working of version of WordPress, you need to download All Files and Documentation from themeforest and extract the downloaded zip to get various files including magazine-1.4.1.zip.

Step 1: Install Theme Via WordPress Dashboard

  1. Go to 'Appearance > Themes' section
  2. Click 'Add New' and select the 'Upload Theme' option





  3. Choose the magazine-2.0.zip file and press 'Install Now'



  4. Once the theme is uploaded you need to activate it.



  5. Activating theme will take you to the theme options, Save the Theme Options Once So that theme options default values gets stored in the database.

if you face any problem during upload through dashboard, please upload the theme using FTP as guided below.

Step 2 (Alternative): Install Theme Via FTP

  1. Access your hosting server using an ftp client like FileZilla
  2. Go to the 'wp-content/themes' folder of your WordPress installation
  3. Extract the magazine-1.4.1.zip file and put the magazine folder in 'wp-content/themes/' folder
  4. Go to 'WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes' section to activate the theme
  5. Activating theme will take you to the theme options, Save the Theme Options Once So that theme options default values gets stored in the database.

Next Step is to Import Demo Contents

Import XML for Demo Contents

Look for Import XML folder in unzipped package downloaded from themeforest and use the XML within it.
Go to the WordPress Admin > Tools > Import and click WordPress as displayed in image below.



At 1st time you need to install WordPress importer plugin



Once installed you need to activate the plugin and run the importer.



Select the XML file from Import XML folder in unzipped package that you have downloaded from themeforest.



After importing XML file.

  1. Assign posts to an existing author.
  2. Mark the checkbox to download and import file attachments
  3. Click 'Submit' button



After that is done, you will have bunch of posts, pages, properties and other contents as on the theme demo.




Next Step is to Configure Menu

Navigate to Appearance > Menus and use the Already Imported Menu from XML and assign it to theme location "Main Menu" from Menu Settings section below menu. After that save the menu. As pointed in screenshot below.

To configure reading settings you need to visit WordPress Admin > Settings > Reading and choose that front page displays as static page. Then select Home.

1. Primary Menu

Primary Menu is the main menu that show in top of header. To setup primary menu, follow the steps below:

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance > Menus
  • Create a new menu and put your menu name. Then click "Create Menu" button.
  • Enter your menu items.
  • Checked the "Theme Location" checkbox as "Primary Navigation".
  • Click "Save" button.

2. Site's Logo and Site's Title

The site's logo image is replacement of site title. You can use site's title as logo or a plain text. By default, the site title is display as plain text. but if you want to use site logo as your site title, you have to provide site logo image. We recommended the image size is 199px width and 50px height. To upload your site logo to the theme, follow the steps below::

  • From WordPress Dashboard,
  • Go to Theme Options > General
  • In the Logo section, click "upload" button, and choose you header image to upload.
  • Click Save Changesbutton

3. Headline Post

Headline Post is the post content with thumbnail image that show in top of header. To setup headline post, follow the steps below:

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Posts
  • Add new posts.
  • Enter your title posts.
  • Go to "Feature post" checkbox as "Set as headline posts".
  • Click "Save" button.

4. Breaking News Ticker

To add Breaking News Ticker in top of header. follow the steps below:

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Posts
  • Add new posts.
  • Enter your title posts.
  • Go to "Feature post" checkbox as "Show this post in news ticker".
  • Click "Save" button.

Main Content Overview

The Main Content of this theme has many various content. If you do the fresh installation and the settings are still default, the homepage will show the latest posts list. You need to create the new homepage from page template that come with the theme then setup the page as frontpage.


The Main Content contains:

  1. Posts Content at the Slider
  2. Posts Content at Most Popular News
  3. Home Top
  4. Top Left Home Category
  5. Top Right Home Category
  6. Bottom Home Category

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Posts
  • Add new posts.
  • Enter your title posts.
  • Go to "Feature post" checkbox as "Show this post in the Slider".
  • Click "Save" button.

2. Posts Content at Most Popular News

To add Posts at Popular News. follow the steps below:

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Posts
  • Add new posts.
  • Enter your title posts.
  • Go to "Feature post" checkbox as "Show this post in most popular news".
  • Click "Save" button.

And for Add Home Top, Top Left Home Category, Top Right Home Category, and Bottom Home Category

follow the steps below:

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Theme Option >>> Homepage
  • Click "Save" button.

Configure Sidebar Homepage

Sidebar is a theme feature, It's basically a vertical column provided by a theme for displaying information other than the main content of the web page. Themes usually provide at least one sidebar at the right of the content. Sidebars usually contain widgets that an administrator of the site can customize. To setup the Sidebar, Follow the steps below:

  • From WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance >>> Widgets
  • Drag widgets item to home sidebar column and then settings

Magazine theme have three gallery template (2 Column, 3 Column, and 4 Column Galleries Template). In this case i'm using 4 Column Galleries Template for example.
To creating Galleries page, follow the steps below:

  1. From WordPress Dashboard
  2. Go to Pages > Add New menu
  3. Enter the page title, (i.e. Galleries)
  4. Leave blank the text editor
  5. Under the Page Attributes box, select 4 Column Galleries Template in Template dropdown
  6. Click Publish button

Magazine theme comes with built-in SEO Options where you can put site's meta description and keywords to make your site has better rank in search engine.

  • Under Built-in SEO fields section, put:
    1. Site meta description content
    2. Site meta keywords content

In site meta description content, put meta description and it should be no longer than 160 character. Also In site meta keywords, put some keywords you want to target. Separate them by commas.

Magazine uses plugin integration feature to replace the default WordPress comment system.

  • From your WordPress Dashboard, go to Plugins
  • Click Add New
  • In search field, put "Facebook Comment" with no quote
  • Click Search Plugin
  • If you see "Facebook Comment" plugin on the list, click Install Now

After the plugin get activated, you have to get your Facebook App ID which can be taken from Facebook developer page. Then you can do settings from Settings > Facebook Comments.

Requirement: Make sure you have the WordPress installation in your language version.

For translating Magazine theme in your language, do these steps:

  • Install Poedit software
  • Open default.po file (Located in language folder of awesome theme).
